SMUHSD Board Recognizes 29 Students Selected As National Merit Scholarship Recipients

National Merit RecipientThis year, 29 students were named National Merit Semi-Finalists and eight were recognized as National Hispanic Scholars. We are so proud of these students and recognized them at the November 10th Board meeting. The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a standardized test administered by the College Board and co-sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) in the United States. Approximately 3.5 million students take the PSAT/NMSQT each fall.  In the SMUHSD, this test is given to all juniors and sophomores free of charge as part of our college readiness efforts.

In the fall of their senior year students are notified if they are National Merit Semifinalists and/or National Hispanic Scholars. Congratulations to these hard working students. To see photos of our recipients, visit our flickr page.
