Board News: Later Start Time, Resolution Supporting Undocumented Families, Alternative Programs and Budget

Stock Image Board MeetingSMUHSD’s Board of Trustees invites you to its Thursday, December 15, 2016 regular meeting. The featured discussion of community interest will be the topic of a later start time. Research indicates that a later start time allows teens to get extra needed sleep which is an important contributor to academic success and emotional well-being. The Board’s input at the November 17th Board meeting is included in the action item to be voted on by the Board. The Board will also consider a resolution setting forth the SMUHSD’s principles in support of undocumented students and families. (The San Mateo Daily Journal wrote an article about our commitment to our undocumented students and their families.) In addition, staff will also review the Peninsula High School Program Revision and Alternative Programs Update, present information on the Measures M and O General Obligation Bond Performance Audit, as well as the acceptance of the 2015-16 independent audit. The Board will also discuss and take action on the first interim budget report. The public meeting will take place at the San Mateo Adult School, 789 E Poplar Ave, San Mateo starting at 7pm.
