Mills High's Sophomores Learn to Save Lives

Mills High students learn life saving skills.Approximately 360 Mills High sophomores took the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED course during their Physical Education (P.E.) class. Students were able to learn how to recognize an emergency situation, activate an emergency action plan and give appropriate first aid as needed. During the class, they practiced CPR and used AEDs on manikins, learned how to bandage wounds, do splints and slings, as well as treat for shock. Polly Wiard, Mills P.E. teacher, states, “Students also took advantage of this opportunity for summer jobs at local recreation departments, swimming pools, and summer camps." What a valuable lesson for our students who may one day use this knowledge to help someone.
