BHS Teachers Help Promote Inclusion at Best Buddies Friendship Walk

BHS Teachers Lau and Zozos at Friendship WalkRecently, Burlingame faculty members Sonny Lau and Michael Zozos volunteered at the Best Buddies Friendship Walk in Golden Gate Park. Starting before dawn, these teachers were part of the set-up crew assembling registration and hospitality tents, arranging signage, and facilitating the execution of day-of operations during the event. This year's walk drew close to 1,000 participants, including Lou Seal, the mascot of the San Francisco Giants. The Friendship Walk is a yearly fundraising event for Best Buddies, a nonprofit organization that creates opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by fostering one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development. As Mr. Zozos shares, "I volunteer with Best Buddies to advocate for, and encourage, inclusion for everyone!" That's the Panther spirit! More information on Best Buddies can be found at www.bestbuddies.org.
