Michele Fichera Nominated for AHA Officer Service Position

Michele Leads a New Teacher OrientationOur very own Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA), Michele Fichera, has been nominated for a teacher councilor service position for the American Historical Association (AHA). Her  experiences as a history-social science teacher, teacher leader at the UC Berkeley History-Social Science Project, and professional development and induction coordinator for the SMUHSD has provided her with extensive experience in helping a wide range of teachers strengthen their instructional practice. Her hope is to promote history social-science education in order to support our teachers, and thus our students, learning how history tells the story of who we are, how we arrived here and the variety of ways we can participate and engage in our communities. If selected as the new Council member, she will represent the interests of graduate students in Council, play a leadership role in organizing participation of graduate students in AHA activities, and disseminate information about AHA activities and initiatives to graduate students in history. Good luck Michele!
