Hillsdale Robotic Club Scores 5th Place in Worldwide Competition

Hilllsdale Robotics Team Enjoys Victory Over DinnerThe Hillsdale Robotics club attended the Global Conference on Educational Robotics (GCER), this year scoring 5th place worldwide out of the 65 teams competing, with around 350 teams registered worldwide. In the summer of 2016, with five members and only one representing them at the competition, they scored 6th place worldwide out of over 55 teams that attended. This year, the club had many more members, with 12 out of the 14 members representing the club at the competition. GCER is part of the Botball robotics competition. Botball is an objective-based competition that is played with robots comprised of metal and LEGO parts. The robot must autonomously complete goals such as displacing foam cubes or a plush version of the competition's mascot, Botguy. The Hillsdale Robotics club is an after school club that aspires to teach creativity and free thinking. Our activities include teaching mechanics and coding to those interested and then organizing a novice competition to allow our members to utilize the skills they have learned. No previous experience is needed to partake in the club.
