In the San Mateo Union High School District we value our Multilingual Learners (MLs), also known as English Learners (ELs). They are an integral part of our community and we appreciate the rich diversity and cultures they contribute to our schools and society. We are committed to providing MLs  with a rich academic and social experience while affirming the assets they contribute to our campuses. 

Because we have Multilingual Learners who are recent arrivals to the United States and who have been raised here, we offer differentiated programs in an attempt to meet all of their needs.

We are committed to continuous improvement in our work with Multilingual Learners and our proud of the amazing teaching and support staff who work alongside them.

Our Multilingual Learners are an inspiration and source of joy and SMUHSD is dedicated to creating opportunities and access so they graduate from our schools college and/or career ready.
