Seniors should apply for financial aid starting October 1 using their parents' prior year's tax returns!
The deadline for Cal Grant Eligibility is March 2.
Fill out one of the following:
Apply for Federal & State Aid with a valid Social Security Number (SSN):
- Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Seniors do not have to turn in a Cal Grant Grade Point Average Release Form if parents did not opt out of Cal Grant when registering with the San Mateo Union High School District.
Dream Act Students (AB540) Apply for California State Aid (for undocumented students)

- Seniors do not have to turn in a Cal Grant Grade Point Average Release Form if parents did not opt out of Cal Grant when registering with San Mateo Union High School.
Important: Some private colleges require additional forms or applications and have earlier priority deadlines. The College Scholarship Service Profile for institutional aid is required at some private institutions! See college financial aid website for more information and fees.

These workshops are open to all SMUHSD 12th Graders and their families - regardless of what school you attend.
We plan on having a bilingual staff member on hand to help Spanish-speaking families with the application process.
Bring your school-issued Chromebook or a personal laptop.
You might also need to bring tax returns, net worth of investments/businesses and current balances of cash and bank accounts.
