Energy and Power Technology

  • The Green Energy pathway at Peninsula High School includes the following courses: Green Energy & Conservation and Introduction to Solar Photovoltaics (PV) Systems. These courses introduce students to the tools, processes, techniques and materials commonly used in various energy careers and more specifically the Solar Photovoltaic industry.

Students will learn the basic concepts of; sustainability, renewable resources, energy auditing, electrical energy production, circuits, passive solar energy systems, & solar photovoltaic systems.

Some example projects that students will create are:

    • Working miniature wind turbine
    • Solar hot water heater
    • Solar photovoltaic powered car
    • Making biodiesel
    • A school site energy audit

Students will create an E-portfolio of their work done within this pathway. Students in this pathway will gain some field experience and demonstrate the technical skills necessary to enter these fields.
