Principal's Welcome - Fall 2023
-
Dear Aragon Students and Families:
On behalf of the faculty and staff at Aragon High School, I would like to welcome you to the 2023-24 school year!
The culture of Aragon High is built on an extensive tradition of excellence, but we are so much more than that. Through collaboration, preparation, and dedication, our faculty prepares students with exemplary instruction and dynamic classes that are engaging and inclusive. The relationships that teachers and staff build with our students are thoughtful and supportive, and based on the belief that every student has the right to learn and thrive on this campus.
Additionally, Aragon has wonderful educational opportunities for all students because of the generous financial support from the Aragon Excellence Fund. I hope that you will donate because it is only through everyone contributing that we will be able to continue the high quality of education and access that we provide.
As we begin the new school year, there are some important matters that must be addressed by each student and family. Please review this handbook before the first day of school as it covers different topics and will help answer many questions. I would also encourage you to attend our New Family Orientation and Ice Cream Social on August 18th - watch your email for details as we get closer to that date.
The high school years are magical for students as they really begin to find what they are good at and who they are as young adults. There is sometimes a misconception amongst families that their high school students (or schools) may not need their support as much as elementary or middle school students (or schools). But, just as your student still needs you to be a large part of their life, AHS needs you, too!! I encourage all parents and guardians to participate in one or more parent groups and volunteer for some of our many activities. The programs and activities students enjoy most would not occur without the help of parent volunteers. Consider volunteering to support a campus event - or even joining one of the following parent groups:
- PTSO (Parent Teacher Student Organization)
- Athletic Boosters
- Music Boosters
- Polynesian Parents Group
- Aragon Asian Parents Group
- Drama Boosters
- Latino Parents Group
- Senior Activities Committee
Aragon’s teachers, staff and administrators are committed to providing a challenging curriculum with rewarding activities and classroom experiences. Your feedback is always welcome. Educating students is a collaborative effort in which we all need to be involved and supportive. My best wishes to everyone for an exciting, enriching, and productive new school year and I look forward to seeing students soon!
Sincerely,
Valerie M. Arbizu
