First Day of School  

Wednesday August 16th for ALL returning students, arrive by 9:55 am

ALL STUDENTS, new and returning, should be on campus by 9:55 am and in their 1st period classroom seat for instruction to start promptly at 10:05am.  Please plan to arrive early to be on time and ready to start the school year strong!  The schedule for the first day is here.

August 17th and August 18th: We will follow a Period 1-7 day with 0 period classes beginning at 7:25 am.  

9th Grade & New/Transfer Student only: Orientation "Part 1" (& school photos)

Thursday, August 10th:  

• 8:30 am - 12:30 pm Orientation Part 1 for 9th Graders and New 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.
  • Wear your best RED & BLACK!  and meet at the Theater!
  • Meet your AHS Link Crew Leader (LCL) who will introduce you to other new DONS and teach you about our campus culture!
  • Do plenty of team building and class bonding in preparation for an awesome year ahead!
  • Because Aragon is under Construction through August 9th, we will NOT be able to have lunch and do a tour of Aragon on Orientation Part 1.  Instead, there will be an "Orientation Part 2" on the first school-day morning on August 16th for all 9th graders and new students, and this will include a tour! Please see below for more details. 
  • Snacks are provided on August 10th, but orientation will be over at 12:30 and lunch is not provided.  Students are welcome and encouraged to return later in the afternoon by appointment to take their photo).  To support our campus' green goals, please bring your own water bottle.   
• 12:30 pm - 4:00 pm:  Make an appointment (15 minutes) to take your School Photo for your ID Card and Yearbook, and receive your ID Card.  (9th Graders and New 10th, 11th, and 12th graders only.)

Returning 10th, 11th, and 12th graders: Jumpstart (& school photos)

Wednesday, August 9th @ The Theater by appointment: 

• Principal Arbizu will send a message in the last week of July to all new families regarding Jumpstart!  

• 9:00am - 5:00pm: All returning 10th, 11th, and 12th* grade students should make an appointment (15 minutes) to take their photo today, which is the same day that they will receive their schedules.  Students will need to take their photo and get their ID card before they can retrieve their schedule.  All returning students must choose an appointment time slot here to make their appointment to take their photo and get their ID card, and then their schedule!

  *All 12th graders must still take an ID card photo on this day; however, this will NOT be your Yearbook Photo!  Your Senior Portrait photo will be in the Yearbook, and that must be scheduled to be taken in the photo studio.  Please schedule your Senior Portrait appointment ASAP if you have not done so.  More information here.

Monday, August 14th & Tuesday, August 15th:  Campus is closed to students and families.

All staff will be participating in professional development and work activities on both days.

First Day of School

Wednesday, August 16th for 9th graders and New/Transfer students, arrive at 8:15am:  "Orientation Part 2" 

• All 9th graders and New/Transfer students are asked to meet in the classroom assigned to them on Orientation Day Part 1 (which was August 10th).  They will arrive on campus and meet their Link Crew Group in the assigned classroom at 8:30am. - PLEASE try to arrive early to avoid traffic and to be able to find the classroom!  We recommend arriving by 8:15am.
  • If a student forgets their classroom assignment, they will have their Link Crew Leaders' cell phone numbers and the Link Crew Group Chat from Orientation Part 1 to communicate and ask for help, and there will also be staff members walking around campus able to help and direct too!
  • If a student is unable to attend Orientation Part 1, their Link Crew Leader will reach out to them via the family's email or phone number; we will also have staff on campus walking around and able to assist.
• 8:30 am - 9:55 am:  Orientation Part 2 Includes a tour of campus and the classrooms, as well as students picking up their school-issued Chromebook and learning how to use their school email address and our online systems.
