Firearm Safety and Safe Storage of Firearms Information
Beginning with the 2023-2024 school year, school districts are required to include information in their Annual Notices related to the safe storage of firearms and California’s child access prevention laws, which establish liability for parents and guardians who should have known that their child could gain access to a firearm at home. This information, included in the memorandum below, is informed by model content developed by the California Department of Education (CDE), which will be updated annually.
