Fall 2024 Enrollment Information
10th Graders: The Middle College application for Fall 2024 will open on January 22.
Deadline to apply is February 23, 2024.
Due to increased interest and demand, it may be necessary to implement a lottery system for the 2024-2025 junior class. If we receive more applications than we have spots available, the lottery will take place on March 8, 2024. Students will be notified shortly thereafter.
10th graders: Are you interested in getting a head start on college courses and saving money on your future college expenses? Middle College is an alternative education program in the seven-school San Mateo Union High School District (SMUHSD) that allows students to earn college units while meeting their high school diploma requirements. The program began in August 1998, and includes juniors and seniors from schools throughout the San Mateo Union High School District. Students take high school courses that adhere to the San Mateo Union High School District-approved curriculum and satisfy high school graduation requirements. Juniors take integrated courses, American Literature and United States History. Seniors take English, and semester courses of Economics and American Government. Additionally, students take an advisory course, designed to ensure that students take advantage of the many instructional support services available at College of San Mateo. Students complete their schedules with three or four college classes.
For many courses, students can earn both high school credits and college units similar to Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Middle College students may not have to pay tuition for their courses.
