Don Scatena
Director of Student Services
Don Scatena was born and raised in San Mateo County (Pacifica, CA). Currently, he lives in Half Moon Bay, and is the father of two children. Over the past 20 years, Don has served as a coach, teacher, and site-administrator in San Mateo County. Since 2007, he has been an Assistant Principal and Principal in San Mateo Union High School District (SMUHSD). He has served as an administrator at Mills High School, Peninsula High School, and San Mateo High School. Currently, he serves as SMUHSD Director of Student Services and Middle College Principal. His role as Director has him supervising SMUHSD's discipline, attendance, enrollment, transfers, mental health, guidance, alternative placements, independent study, Jumpstart, Middle College, foster youth liaison, homeless student coordinator, leader of safe schools initiative, and serves on a variety of district and county committees. He is dedicated to bringing the community college experience to as many high school students as possible.

Jamie Calleros
Executive Assistant to the Director of Student Services
Jamie Calleros joined SMUHSD in December 2019 as an Attendance & Welfare Technician before starting her current role of Executive Assistant to the Director of Student Services in July 2022. Her main role as Executive Assistant is to provide support to the Student Services Director and help with enrollment, disciplinary procedures, and alternative programs.
Prior to working at the District office, Jamie worked in another Bay Area school district. Prior to that, she worked as a nanny, tutor and in-home care provider.
Jamie was born and raised in East Los Angeles and moved to the Bay Area during her junior year of high school. She began working towards her Psychology degree but changed paths and became a certified Life & Wellness Coach. She enjoys spending time with her two daughters, doing yoga and spending time outdoors, especially at the beach.

Monica Diaz
Attendance & Welfare Technician
Monica came to the SMUHSD in August 2009 as an Attendance & Welfare Technician. Her primary role in the office is enrolling students, organizing the Student Attendance Review Board (SARB) for the District, and maintaining emergency supplies for the District. Prior to working at the District office, Monica was a manager for an advertising agency in South San Francisco.
Monica was born in Argentina and moved to Los Angeles at the age of 15. She then moved to the Bay Area with her husband and two children (Capuchino High School Alums!) in 1997. Monica enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Bonnie Pantig
Student Data Specialist
Bonnie Pantig joined San Mateo Union High School District in 2012 as a Attendance and Welfare Clerk and took the role as the Student Data Specialist in 2014. Prior to working in the District, Bonnie worked in the health industry.
She grew up in Millbrae and attended Mills High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Davis.

Cindy Zhou
Attendance & Welfare Technician
Ling (Cindy) Zhou has started working at Student Services of the San Mateo Union High School District since 2016 as an Attendance & Welfare Technician. Prior to that, Cindy worked as a data research and specialist for many years to monitor and report public land use in California, was an active community member in PTA to promote education, and help local schools.
Cindy grew up in China, has been living in San Mateo over 20 years. She completed college education in China and studied international business in Glendale College after coming to US.
