Drama Boosters
-
We are parents, friends and theatre arts enthusiasts whose mission is to support the outstanding Performing Arts Department at San Mateo High School. We volunteer our time to provide our students with the best opportunity to exercise their creative abilities. We provide active support for the production of three mainstage shows per year involving performers, crew, orchestra, staff, choreographers and volunteers, and as needed for any of the performing arts/drama classes offered at San Mateo High School.
As a public school with budgetary constraints, less than 2% of our financial support comes from the district. We manage the rest through fundraisers, ticket sales, program advertisements, raffles, concession sales and outside contributions. Yet our productions are favorably compared to community theatre and college-level performances, giving San Mateo High School students the opportunity to benefit from a challenging, award-winning program that is the envy of public and private high schools alike. And volunteer time is perhaps more important than direct financial support to continue the tradition of excellence in this department.

Volunteering
We don't have to help -- we get to help!
Booster volunteers are critical to the success of the drama program. And this can be some of the most fun and memorable time you'll spend with your kids while they are in high school. To be a volunteer, you do not need to have any special talents or skills. Opportunities range from ushering at performances, ad sales to local businesses, to painting (with a roller or detail brush) — plus 20 other job descriptions that help us make San Mateo High School productions truly outstanding.
