Project SEARCH

  • San Mateo Union High School District’s (SMUHSD) Project SEARCH is a collaborative program between SMUHSD, San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) and Department of Rehabilitation (DOR).

Project Search is a part of the District’s Adult Transition Program/AAC for students with disabilities aged 18-22 who are working on a Certificate of Completion. Project Search provides internship opportunities at the San Mateo Medical Center where students rotate through 2-4 departments (such as the Shipping/Distribution, Kitchen and Medical Records) to gain valuable work experience.

Project Search is on the same school calendar as the rest of the district. There will be an Orientation a week before the opening of the Fall Semester. Project SEARCH is a full year program. Once they complete Project SEARCH, they will receive their Certificate of Completion. This is a unique opportunity for students with special needs to acquire work skills to obtain employment and be a contributing member of their community.

Project Search Open House is February 6, 2019

Interested students and their parents are invited to an Open House to learn more Wednesday, February 6 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the San Mateo Medical Center (222 W. 39th Avenue, San Mateo -- 2nd floor., Classroom 2, follow signs).
