IB DANCE HL & SL* Grade : 11 & 12 (2 year course)
The student through critical thinking and problem solving skills will gain an international understanding of artistic expression and develop a personal style that respects and demonstrates the shared heritage of world cultures. An IB dance student demonstrates growth and commitment to dance through the development of technical dance skills, performance skill development through opportunities for stage and concert performance and world dance knowledge through research of cultural dances. The final aims of the study of dance are to understand dance as a set of practices with their own histories which integrate physical, intellectual and emotional knowledge as well as to experience dance as a collective exploration of the expressive possibilities of bodily movement. Finally, students will understand and appreciate mastery of various dance styles, traditions and cultures and to recognize and use dance as a tool for communication.
IB VISUAL ARTS HL & SL* Grade : 11 & 12 (2 year course)
The IB program includes either Higher Level or Standard Level A (emphasis on Studio Art) or Standard Level B (emphasis on research and art history. The student through critical thinking and problem solving skills will gain an international understanding of artistic expression and develop a personal style that respects and demonstrates the shared heritage of world cultures. An IB student demonstrates growth and commitment to the study of art, through research work books and studio art that merges traditional and non-traditional media with personal and collaborative artistic expression and design that incorporates historical, contemporary, socio-cultural, and international perspectives.
IB MUSIC SL* Grade: 11 & 12 (1 year course in conjunction with a performance class)
The IB music curriculum is intended as a diverse and practical course. The course’s integrated approach will enable students to expand their musical knowledge through practical music making. The course ensures that students experience a wide range of music and develop their music making skills throughout each component. An IB Music student will explore musical content, experiment with the music making process, communicate and present music, investigate music through a music links project, enhance their listening skills through aural listening projects and analyze master works through the use of music theory.
IB FILM HL & SL* Grade : 11 & 12 (2 year course)
IB Film is a rigorous introduction to the "reading" and the comprehension of film as a visual language. Students will learn to watch films in the context of social and political contexts, and see how history influences the way we make films. Students will observe the elements of film—screenwriting, cinematography, film editing, and sound design—and be able to deconstruct how each component works to purposefully communicate a narrative.The three areas of focus are: 1) textual analysis (Oral Presentation); 2) film theory and history (Research Script); and 3) the creative process (Film Production Portfolio). Each one has its own rationale, expected outcome, and form of assessment.
