Anna Lapid

I am Anna Lapid, and I’ve been the teacher librarian at Capuchino High School for the past 10 years.  I love being a research instructor, and prior to becoming a librarian, I loved being an English teacher in the Vallejo City Unified School District.  For 10 years, I taught College Preparatory English, 9th through 12th grade as well as Advanced Placement English Language and Composition, Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition, Film as Literature, Women in Literature, World Humanities, American Humanities, and English to learners new to this country.  What I enjoy the most about being a librarian is teaching students to ask their own questions rather than respond to questions teachers ask.

When I am not teaching, I love working with my hands to make stuff that is useful and personal.  I hand build ceramic pottery, sew home textiles and quilts, and dabble in drawing and watercolor painting.  I like to travel to cities and towns in the contiguous United States.  Last spring break, I traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana to listen to Cajun and Zydeco music and eat a Cochon de Lait Po’boy and beignets.  This spring break, I plan to travel to Sanibel Island, Florida to gather seashells on white sand beaches and eat Pink Gold Shrimp and key lime pie. My goal is to collect a refrigerator magnet from all fifty states.  If I had the time and the money, I would have a woodshop with lots of power tools and take a class to learn to build my own house.
