The Hillsdale Shield Yearbook
The Shield is the official yearbook of Hillsdale High School. Produced by and for students of HHS since 1956, The Shield is now produced as the primary curriculum of the Yearbook class at Hillsdale. Students in the class are tasked with any number of functions, including taking photos, conducting interviews, writing stories, designing cover art, developing themes, arranging the layout, and proofreading copy. The end product that is published for purchase has been created in its entirety by Hillsdale students, with some guidance from the club advisor and a representative of the publishing company.
When you purchase a yearbook, you do it as part of a community...
The Yearbook Club collects payments for yearbooks from individual students in order to make a bulk purchase of yearbook copies. In this respect, the Yearbook Club does not profit from the sale of yearbooks, but instead collects the funds from all of the purchasers in order to make one payment. Depending on how early in the year that a purchase can be made, we receive a rebate from the publisher. When students wait to make a purchase, the cost to the entire group progressively rises. Therefore, the cost to the individual increases the longer that it takes to make payment.
In order to appropriately document and account for yearbook purchases and expenditures, it is necessary that the Yearbook Club have a paper record of every purchase that is made. In almost every case, purchases are recorded and verified through the means of a paper order form submitted together with payment.
These yearbook purchases, once verified by the advisor to Yearbook, are documented in multiple locations. A table showing yearbook purchases is progressively updated throughout the year and published to the internet through the SchoolLoop website for Hillsdale High School. Students and their family members may verify their purchases by viewing the document on the right side of the page.
