Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Patty Villar
Hello! My name is Patty Villar, daytime Transition Navigator at San Mateo Adult School. I began working at San Mateo Adult School in 2009, first as an English Learner Specialist and then taking on the additional role of GED Examiner from 2011 - 2015. In 2016 I began working as Transition Navigator for ACCEL San Mateo County, a consortia of five San Mateo County adult schools and three community colleges.
I am a Bay Area native, born in San Francisco, raised in Foster City, and currently living in San Mateo. I attended all local schools, including Foster City Elementary School, Bowditch Middle School, Hillsdale High School, College of San Mateo, and College of Notre Dame (now known as Notre Dame de Namur University). Needless to say, I love the Bay Area!
Before coming to San Mateo Adult School I worked in Student Services at College of Notre Dame and in Community Education at College of San Mateo. I love going to school, working at a school, and truly believe in lifelong learning.
My role as Transition Navigator is to help students transition from adult school into college and careers and to connect with the community. I enjoy getting to know students one-on-one, helping them reach their goals, and seeing them out in the community.
I am a huge San Francisco Giants fan, having many fond, yet cold, memories of going to games at Candlestick Park with my brothers and cousins. I love the outdoors, especially biking, hiking, kayaking and swimming. My favorite activity of all though is spending time with my husband and three sons and our large families.
