  • San Mateo Adult School Staff and Teachers Are Ready to Help You

    There are many resources in San Mateo County. San Mateo Adult School staff and teachers can help you find the resources you need and learn the skills to use them. They will help you learn how to make phone calls, write emails, make appointments, ask for help, and follow-up on recommendations. 

    Transition and English Learner Specialists

    English Learner Specialists register students and help them learn about our school and the community.

    Transition Specialists - sometimes called College and Career Navigators - help students decide and reach their college, career, and community goals.

    Marina Kravtsova, English Learner Specialist - Day

    Marina registers students, gives orientation, co-organizes the San Mateo Adult School ambassador program, and connects students with resources.  She is a former student and understands the challenges of learning English and navigating a new culture.

    Patty Villar, Day Transition Specialist (College & Career Navigator)

    Patty can help you find the resources you need to achieve your goals.  Patty grew up in the Bay Area.  She went to College of San Mateo and then transferred to a four year college.  She knows a lot about applying to college and creating a path to academic success. Her office is in Room 28.

    Hilda Villegas, Evening Transition Specialist

    Hilda

    Hilda is our new Transition Specialist.  She helps students in the evening.  She is bilingual in English and Spanish.  Hilda grew up in the Bay Area.  She can help you find and use the resources you need to create success. Her office is in Room 28.

    Guillermo Acevedo English Learner Specialist - Evenings

    Guillermo Acevedo

    Guillermo registers students, gives orientation tours, and connects students with resources.  He is bilingual in English and Spanish.  He is an immigrant.  He can share from his experience how to learn English and succeed in a new country.

    Guillermo works at his desk in the SMART Center on Mondays and Tuesdays from 6:15 to 9:15 pm.  He works in General Education Development on Wednesdays from 6:15 to 9:15 pm.

    Gina Vannini, English Learner Specialist - Evenings

    Gina with glasses and scarf Gina registers students, gives orientation tours, and helps students find resources.  She is bilingual in English and Spanish. She is an immigrant and a former student.  She has experience in learning English and finding success in this country and can give advice for you to do the same.

    Gina is at her desk in the SMART Center Mondays and Tuesdays from 5:00 to 8:30 pm.

    Carlota Zuniga, Staff Assistant for High School Diploma, General Education Development

    Carlota helps students get started in the High School Diploma and General Educational Development programs, answers questions and provides resources.  She is fluent in Spanish.
