Notes from the Principal's Desk

  • Hi there!  Thanks for stopping by to get a sense of what's happening at Aragon High School - from my point of view.

Over the year, I will post information and thoughtful items here to help keep our families in the loop AND give you an idea of what's happening 'behind the scenes' at Aragon.  This is especially important since we are continuing in this Distance Learning Environment - at least for the duration of the Fall 2020 semester.

I hope you find this interesting and helpful.  Please reach out if you have questions or would like to pose a topic for consideration.

    Thank you!  Valerie Arbizu

This evening, our AHS PTSO hosted a presentation of Naviance, the tool our School Counselors use to support students as they navigate their way through high school, career exploration, and the college application process.

If you weren't able to join us this evening, we hope you will be able to check out recorded streamed presentation on our YouTube Channel, linked here: AHS PTSO Presents: Naviance!

A big thank you to 11th Grade School Counselor Lea Sanguinetti and College & Career Advisor Laurie Tezak, for walking us through the software and answering audience questions.

  • First Grading Period Ends Friday, September 18

Posted by Valerie Arbizu on 9/13/2020

This is a very fast first grading period, as this Friday will mark the end of the fifth week of this school year.  Our teachers are working hard and fast to get to know your students, and the first marking period is always a bit anxiety endusing.
In many cases, students are just learning how to navigate their classes and how to submit them on time - especially in this distance learning environment.  Please keep in mind that, as grades are submitted next year, there is a lot of time left in the semester AND grade period marks are considered a 'progress report'.
If you have questions about student grades, please contact their individual teachers.

  • Outdoor Learning Pods: Planning Currently Underway

Posted by Valerie Arbizu on 9/8/2020

We are in the middle-stages of planning our learning pods, which will accommodate up to 14 students at a time.  This is considered an intervention for students who need the highest possible support in connecting to their studies - both literally and figuratively.  Students participating in our first learning pod have already been contacted.
As we get our first pod started, we will study the results, make necessary adjustments, and begin the planning process for additional learning pods as necessary.
