The job of the San Mateo Union High School District is to prepare teens for their next life chapter – whether that be attending college or entering the workforce in a career they enjoy.  Our College and Career planning team is here to help guide students to the path best for them.  We strongly encourage students and their families to take advantage of events like the annual College and Career Fair and to connect with your counselor for questions and guidance.

2025 Districtwide College Fair Recap

The San Mateo Union High School District College Fair was held on Wednesday, October 15 at San Mateo High School.

Highlights:

  • More than 75 representatives from colleges across the country were in attendance
  • Guests heard presentations on paying for college, and more!

College Planning Webinars

Community College to Four Year Transfer Path

Tuesday, April 28, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

SMUHSD invites students and parents to learn more about the community college to four-year transfer pathway.

Tune in to hear from former SMUHSD students who will be sharing their experiences navigating the community college system, and who transferred (and graduated from) different UC campuses.

Free Camp College Workshops

Join the Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC) on Wednesdays this summer and fall for the return of Camp College.

This seven-session virtual bootcamp for college applications is FREE and open to all high school counselors and students in the graduating class of 2027.
