College and Career Planning

The job of the San Mateo Union High School District is to prepare teens for their next life chapter – whether that be attending college or entering the workforce in a career they enjoy.  Our College and Career planning team is here to help guide students to the path best for them.  We strongly encourage students and their families to take advantage of events like the annual College and Career Fair and to connect with your counselor for questions and guidance.

2025 Districtwide College Fair Recap

The San Mateo Union High School District College Fair was held on Wednesday, October 15 at San Mateo High School.

Highlights:

  • More than 75 representatives from colleges across the country were in attendance
  • Guests heard presentations on paying for college, and more!

Financial Aid Workshops

In-Person Financial Aid Workshops

All families-- regardless of home school-- are welcome to attend any of the below events.

Attend this in-person workshop if you:

  • Need help with filling out the FAFSA or CADAA

  • Have questions about the financial aid application process

Can’t make it to the February 21 In-Person Financial Aid Workshops?

Several of our school sites will also be offering the following options for you to ask questions and get additional help.

In-Person Support

  • Tuesday, February 24, 2 - 4 p.m.: San Mateo High School College and Career Center
    • 506 N. Delaware Street, San Mateo
       
  • Thursday, March 5, 2 - 4 p.m.: Capuchino High School College and Career Center
    • 1501 Magnolia Avenue, San Bruno

Virtual Support 

  • Fridays, February 6, 13, 20 and 27, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

  • Drop in support is available in English and Spanish.
  • Virtual support is available in English only. 
  • Please sign in at the School Office.
  • All families, regardless of home school, are welcome to attend any support opportunity.
