The San Mateo Union High School District recognizes the vital role that our Family Engagement Coordinators play in our schools in supporting students’ learning and success. Our Family Engagement Coordinators are the link between the school and families. They create a welcoming school environment where every family feels valued, informed, and empowered.

The role of our Family Engagement Coordinators is to encourage family participation in school activities and decision-making, maintain open communication channels (calls, newsletters, social media, etc), help families understand the school system, academic expectations, and available resources.

Our District has seven Family Engagement Coordinators: One in each school site and one at the District level. FECs work full-time and beyond! They are bicultural, bilingual, and above all, they have the empathy and ability to serve our most vulnerable and disadvantaged families.

For all this, we honor and thank our Family Engagement Coordinators for their hard work and dedication to our families!
