Citizens Oversight Committee
On September 25, 2024, the Citizens Oversight Committee conducted a tour of four high schools in the District: Burlingame High School, San Mateo High School, Aragon High School, and Hillsdale High School. The tour aimed to assess ongoing construction projects, review recent renovations, and ensure transparency and accountability in the use of funds.
Burlingame High School
The committee began at Burlingame High School, where they observed significant renovations in the music classroom and construction progress on the gym replacement. Administrators highlighted community involvement in the planning process, emphasizing how feedback was integrated into the project.
San Mateo High School
Next, the tour moved to San Mateo High School, touring the progress of the new gym construction, slated for completion in time for the 2025-2026 school year.
Aragon High School
At Aragon High School, the committee explored the new baseball and flexfield that in addition to a baseball playing field, promotes additional practice space for football and playing space for girl's flag football, bullpens, and spectator seating.
Hillsdale High School
The final stop was Hillsdale High School, showcasing the completed site improvements inclusive of outdoor learning spaces and freshly renovated lockers.
The District is seeking volunteers who have an interest in bond construction and representing the interests of the community, families and students through the implementation of Measure L to serve on the Citizens’ Oversight Committee.
