Parent Resources
Parent & Guardian Resources
We believe that it is important for parents and families to be involved with their student's education and Individual Education Plan. Meaningful participation is critical both with the student and parents and/or families.
SMUHSD Parent/Guardian Resources
The District is in the process of building a Parent Advisory Committee as well as appointing two Resource Parents as a liaison to the Special Education Local Plan Area. We want parents to be involved and collaborate through the Individual Education Plan process. Parents are an important part of all Individual Education Plan teams and understand their student in the context of the home environment.
If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Holly Wade at hawade@smuhsd.org.
Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA)
The San Mateo County Special Education Local Plan Area was organized in 1977 along with Special Education Local Plan Areas throughout the state. All school districts and county school offices in California were required to belong to a Special Education Local Plan Area office, which is advisory to parents, school districts, and agencies that provide services to students with disabilities. The San Mateo County Special Education Local Plan Area is comprised of the 28 school districts located in San Mateo county. These school districts and the County Office of Education cooperatively provide a continuum of programs and services for individuals with disabilities from birth through 21 years of age.
