Alternative to Suspension
Most students who receive suspensions are eligible for the Alternative to Suspension program (ATS) by referral of a school dean or assistant principal.
This program allows the student to attend group therapy to serve all or some of the days of suspension, providing a safe place for the student to process the incident that led to the suspension, as well as learn some skills to promote a successful high school career.
If your student has been referred to an Alternative to Suspension program, you will receive a notification in your email from K12 to sign a consent slip online. This consent slip contains the date/time/location of the program for your student. Once the slip has been signed online, your student will be expected to attend the group therapy sessions. Failure to attend the program will result in further disciplinary action by the school dean or assistant principal.
