Mental Health and Wellness Program Overview
Summer Wellness Support: June 5 - July 8, 2026
As we head into summer break, we recognize that stepping away from daily school routines can sometimes bring new challenges for students and families. SMUHSD remains committed to supporting equitable access to mental health and wellness resources throughout the summer months.
For urgent mental health needs or immediate safety concerns, please call 911.
Students and families may visit the SMUHSD Mental Health Resources page for additional, non-urgent, community support services.
In partnership with our community organizations, the following resources also remain available to support students and families over the summer:
• Care Solace – A no-cost online resource with a live 24/7 concierge service to assist students and families in connecting with local mental health providers and community-based services.
- Call: (888) 515-0595
- Visit: Care Solace for SMUHSD Families
• allcove San Mateo – A youth-centered space for individuals ages 12–25 offering mental health support, peer support, medical services, substance use support, and wellness activities in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
• Daybreak Health – Virtual mental health counseling and support services available for students, including individual therapy and family support.
Please note: Limited Wellness support will be available from June 5 through July 8, Monday–Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. during Summer School days.
And finally we wish to share our video "Student Voices" that was presented at the May 21 SMUHSD Board Meeting and highlights some of our Mental Health and Wellness Programs and Counselors.
Wishing you all a safe, healthy, restful, and connected summer.
Warmly,
SMUHSD Mental Health & Wellness
The San Mateo Union High School District’s School Based Mental Health and Wellness Program provides prevention and short term intervention services for all students facing social and emotional challenges that impact academic performance, attendance, and behavior at school.
In a safe and supportive environment students can meet with Wellness Counselors to discuss a variety of complex issues such as stress, trauma, suicide, depression, bullying, grief, self esteem, family life, drug and alcohol use, relationships, gender identity and LGBTQ+.
Students can learn positive, lifelong habits that contribute to their well-being and success.
The Mental Health and Wellness Program provides short-term individual, group and drop-in support in a confidential, non-judgmental space staffed with Wellness Counselors who are dedicated to improving the health, well-being and educational outcomes of all students.
