Thank you for your interest in setting up a Canvas Observer Account.

Accounts will be created for Ed Rights holders (parents and guardians), therefore a pairing code is not required. Student Canvas accounts will be activated once school starts.

Following the student account activation, parent accounts will be linked to their prospective student account. You will receive instructions and login information.

The Canvas Observer Account and Parent App allows parents to:

• View a summary of all current overall grades for courses
• View course calendars and assignment deadlines
• View assignment details and submissions
• View course and school announcements
• Email Teachers

Canvas Parent/Guardian Observer Accounts (Option 1)

(Note: Canvas Observer Accounts are automatically created for SMUHSD families new to the district that have “Ed Rights” for their students. Pairing codes are not needed for Observers whose accounts have been created. )

• Canvas Parent Observer Account Portal Access/Login
  • Login = Parent Email Address used in Aeries Contacts during Registration
    • An account has been created for each Ed Rights holder in a student's family 
  • Password = lowercase abbreviation for your high school + 7 Digit Student ID  
    • School abbreviations used in password formula: ahs, bhs, chs, hhs, mhs, phs, smhs
    • Example password: ahs1234567
