SMUHSD Teams up with College of San Mateo to offer College Courses
These courses will be taught at San Mateo High School and are open to all SMUHSD students
SMUHSD and San Mateo High School are proud to partner with the College of San Mateo (CSM) to offer three free pathway specific college courses allowing students to explore career opportunities in accounting, business and criminal justice beginning in the Spring 2019 semester. CSM will offer Accounting Procedures Monday evenings from 6-9 p.m, Criminal Justice Tuesdays from 6-9 p.m. and Introduction to Business Tuesdays 6-9 p.m.
Accounting Procedures (ACTG 100) provides students with the necessary skills to perform bookkeeping for a small business and could be the first step toward a career in accounting that can yield annual salaries of more than $100K.
Introduction to Criminal Justice (ADMJ 100) will be offered Tuesdays from 6-9 p.m. Students will be introduced to the origins and development of criminal law, legal processes and sentencing and incarceration policies.
Introduction to Business (BUS 100) offered Tuesdays from 6-9 p.m. will provide students with a broad overview of the structure and function of the modern American business organization and will examine current trends, entrepreneurship and small businesses.
All courses are free and are offered to any SMUHSD students at San Mateo High School. Students have the opportunity to earn college credits along with High School credit with successful completion of the courses. Classes run from January 14-May 24.
