SMHS Student Named Finalist in Science Competition

The Society for Science & the Public recently announced that San Mateo High School's Alexis MacAvoy is one of 30 finalists in the 2019 Broadcom MASTERS®. Alexis was one of more than 5,000 nominees in science fair competitions nationwide and over 2,300 students who completed and submitted an online application.

As a finalist, Alexis will represent San Mateo High School in a trip to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Broadcom MASTERS Finalist Week, from October 25-30, 2019.  Once there, Alexis will present last year’s science fair project at the University of the District of Columbia to judges and the public and will participate in team science and engineering challenges.  The competition will culminate with an awards ceremony on Tuesday, October 29.
