ESL City Government Academy Graduates Second Cohort
On November 29, San Mateo Adult School and the City of San Mateo graduated the second cohort of students from the English as a Second Language (ESL) City Government Academy. This semester-long program is designed to expand participants’ awareness of local government, City services, and increase civic engagement, leadership, and volunteering.
Each session is presented by representatives of the different City departments to help participants feel prepared to engage further with the City and feel empowered and comfortable to access City services. Mayor Rick Bonilla and incoming City Manager Drew Corbett presented students with their certificates and, along with City staff, joined the cohort for the graduation luncheon.
