The Contemporary World Studies course exposes students to contemporary world history from the Non‐ Western perspective. The course will link issues facing the world today with their historical origin in three main geographic regions: Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. The course will include an examination of colonialism and imperialism and their influence on the contemporary cultures, religions, politics, and economics of the subject regions. Students also will become familiar with the physical and cultural geography of these regions.
