Coaches Clearance Requirements
Coaches play an important role in the lives of our student athletes. To ensure the safety and welfare of our student athletes, coaches are required to go through several training courses and certification to be eligible to coach at the San Mateo Union High School District.
Coaches Clearance Requirements:
- Livescan Fingerprint DOJ Clearance
- For Head Coaches / Paid Assistants: New Hire Packet
- For Volunteer Coaches: New Volunteer Packet
- For Head Coaches: Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate (ASCC) - Renewed every 5 years
- For Assistant/Volunteer Coaches: ASCC Waiver - Renewed Annually
- Tuberculosis Risk Assessment and/or Tuberculosis Test - Renewed every 4 years
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification (In-person skills session required) - Renewed every 2 years
- First Aid Certification (In-person skills session required) - Renewed every 2 years
- NFHS: Fundamentals of Coaching Online Training - No renewal required
- NFHS: Concussion in Sports Online Training - Renewed every 2 years
- NFHS: Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Online Training - Renewed every 2 years
- NFHS: Heat Illness Prevention Online Training - Renewed every 2 years
- CA Mandated School Staff Online Trainings
- For Water Polo & Swimming ONLY: Water Safety Certification - Renewed every 2 years
