Current 9th and 10th Graders: Take an Active Role in Climate Action
Are you currently a Bay Area 8th grader, 9th grader, or 10th grader with an interest in taking an active role in the climate movement? The Bay Area Youth Climate Summit’s (BAYCS) Youth Advisory Council of ~30 Bay Area students may be just the right opportunity for you!
BAYCS serves as the governing body and mobilizing force driving the development and implementation of BAYCS' events, workshops, and projects.
BAYCS programs are designed to uphold their vision of a world where every individual, from all backgrounds, has the community and tools to collectively fight for a future of environmental equity.
BAYCS members expand the impact of our programs, design insightful campaigns to mobilize youth through various media platforms, & learn about the intersections of the climate crisis alongside a network of 3,500+ youth.
As a member, you can join one or more sub-teams:

Are you a high school artist? Join the Congressional Art Competition for a chance to have your work hung in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.!
Each spring, a nationwide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent throughout the country.
Congressman Kevin Mullin is hosting the local competition for high school students living or going to school in the California’s 15th Congressional district.
Submissions are due April 12, and a local awards ceremony will be held April 30, 2026.
The first place winner from our district will have a chance to visit D.C. for an awards ceremony with winners from other districts, and their artwork will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol building.
The second and third place winners will have their artwork displayed in Congressman Mullin’s District Office for a year.

Grassroots Ecology's nine-week Naturalist Internship (June 15 - August 14) provides college students and recent graduates an opportunity to explore a career in environmental conservation and to deepen their understanding of California natural history. Interns will earn the California Naturalist certification as part of the program.

The Science Accelerating Growth and Engagement (SAGE) Mission is to engage curious students into STEM and empower them to explore a wide range of possibilities for their future.
SAGE Camp at SLAC is a free one-week residential/overnight camp for high school students.
